I just finished watching a movie about changing lives - literally. The movie itself ("Smile") is pretty good, but the real-life organization it was based on is truly amazing. Simply called "Operation Smile", this group goes around the world to help those born with cleft palates and lips. It's completely wonderful and heartbreaking what a simple 45 minutes and $240 dollars can do. Wonderful because of the change that can happen in these children's lives; heartbreaking because so many have to be turned away because there simply is not enough time, staff, or financial support to operate on all the children that are brought.
If anyone who reads this has some money that needs to find a home (or perhaps even some time), this is truly a worthy organization.
